Disciple the World
helping others follow Jesus
How will they know the way?
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
Grounded in Scripture & in our Wesleyan Heritage
“In light of the mission of the church and our covenant in Christ, the Global Methodist Church engages the commandment to make disciples of Jesus through an intentional process grounded in Scripture and in our Wesleyan heritage. The Global Methodist Church defines a disciple as:
a person whose life reflects the character of Christ and extends the mission of Christ in holy love of God and neighbor.
The disciple’s character and practice are informed by the Scriptures, nurtured by the community of faith, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The disciple’s mission is to continue the mission and ministry of Jesus through works of teaching, service, multiplication, mercy, and justice, making more obedient disciples who will reflect the character and mission of Christ and expanding the boundaries of Christ’s Kingdom further out into the world.
The goal of transformational discipleship ministry in the Global Methodist Church is to make, develop, and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ through small groups where each person is invited, challenged, supported, and held accountable in living sanctified lives that reflect the practices, character, and mission of Christ.”
- ¶ 405. TRANSFORMATIONAL DISCIPLESHIP in the GMC Book of Doctrines & Discipline

Local Church Assessment
-
If your church is wanting to get started in exploring what it means to reach unreached people groups, this is the place to start. Our UPG Task Force created a local church mission assessment for you to begin prayerfully discerning where God may be calling your church.
Pray for Unreached Peoples
-
“We provide a comprehensive people group database of the world, and we track what God is doing among these peoples, so we can assist the Global Church in the vision of seeing God glorified through an abundance of Christ followers within every people group.”
Perspectives
-
“The Perspectives on the World Christian Movement® course examines four “perspectives” of God’s mission - Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic - exploring the why and the how of being on mission with God. First developed for college students in 1974 by Dr. Ralph Winter and the US Center for World Mission, Perspectives has emerged into a global movement attracting Christians of all generations and nations.
The hallmark expression of Perspectives students around the world is “my eyes were opened.” Almost 50 years of history has demonstrated that the experience of “taking Perspectives” results in transformed lives and transformed churches, ensuing in the transformation of unreached people groups as the gospel spreads within their midst.”
“The ideal person to walk with a new Christian is not normally someone who will be remembered in history books or who has achieved online celebrity. It will be an older man or woman who keeps a worn Bible at bedside, who has spent years in prayer and worship and the church’s sacramental life. It will be someone who has experienced the New Birth and has continued to seek the sanctifying grace of the Holy Spirit, and someone God has called to invest deeply in the lives of others.”
