If we want to engage people of other religions, we must first rightly define evangelism and conversion. Evangelism is the proclamation of the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit with the aim of persuading people to repent and believe in Christ. Conversion is the divinely enabled personal response of individuals to the gospel in which they repent and believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord. At conversion, God gives new, spiritual life to someone who was dead in their sin. Regardless of the cost, believers should be compelled by Christ’s love to take the good news of Christ to the ends of the earth.
